Principal Optical Engineer

Job Functions
Advanced Technology Development: Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness to develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts related to the design and application of optical systems. Extends knowledge base and technical capabilities in the field of optical design, alignment, and test for components and opto-mechanical systems. Develops advanced technology resulting in new product/business opportunities for the company. Serves as technical consultant to management for long-term business planning related to technology development for optical systems. Plans R&D projects, troubleshoots critical processes, and provides technical expertise and guidance to the engineering department. Represents II-VI OS as the principal expert in the field of optical design for components and opto-mechanical systems.
Technology Expert: Acknowledged company expert and valuable technical resource for all specialized technologies used in the design, alignment, and test of optical components and opto-mechanical systems. Must also serve as an effective archive of many years of successful and unsuccessful design approaches, and applies this knowledge/experience to new programs.
Optical Engineering: Leads technical teams and coordinates engineering activities for design, development, and implementation of new optical components and systems. Responsibilities include all aspects of optical engineering including component and system design, material selections, assembly process development (especially alignment and test issues), qualification, and process documentation. Serves as the Process Owner for optical design processes (hardware and software) including implementation of processes, monitoring of process operations and status, and support of software and hardware maintenance and appropriate upgrades. Supports program management and operations personnel with technical guidance on assigned projects. Ensures that design concepts comply with customer's specifications and are manufacturable. Supports acceptance testing, qualification testing, and troubleshooting efforts on assigned programs. Participates in configuration control (CCD), change control (ECO, NOR, RCN), and MRB activities to support assigned programs. Adheres to program financial goals and provides financial estimates and status updates to program management.
Business Development: Supports technical meetings with customers and writes technical proposals for development of new business. Assists the estimation group in evaluating technical requirements, identifying exceptions, and preparing cost estimates for customer quotes.
Job Requirements:
Education: Minimum BS Degree, MS degree preferred, in engineering or related discipline, preferably in physics, optics, electrical or mechanical engineering.
Experience: 12 years minimum optical engineering experience with minimum 5 years experience at an aerospace/defense company. Experience with visible and Infrared targeting and surveillance systems for aerospace/defense applications preferred.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
