As a legal coordinator, your primary responsibilities would include:
Probate Case Management:
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the firm's probate cases, including drafting and filing legal documents, appearing in court, maintaining accurate case files, and communicating with clients and other parties involved in the case.
Client Communication:
You will be the primary point of contact for clients, communicating with them regularly to provide updates on their case, answer questions, and provide legal advice as needed.
Court Filings:
You will be responsible for preparing and filing court documents and ensuring that all deadlines are met in a timely manner.
Legal Research:
You will be expected to conduct legal research to assist attorneys in their representation of clients, and to stay up-to-date with changes in the law that may impact the firm's probate cases.
Administrative Support:
You will be responsible for providing administrative support to the attorneys in the firm, such as scheduling appointments, maintaining calendars, and drafting correspondence.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred, but not required.
At least 2 years of experience in probate case management is recommended.
Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential.
Knowledge of probate law and court procedures is required.
Familiarity with legal onboarding tools, such as Legal Match and Mycase, is preferred.
A paralegal/legal assistant should possess the following traits:
Proactive character Willingness to learn and adapt Basic knowledge of legal concepts and principles High-level reading and the ability to handle multiple documents at once Proficient writing abilities and diverse vocabulary Confidence High-level communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is essential.
Organizational skills The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines A thorough and meticulous nature Proper understanding and management of CRM systems (we use MyCase) Time-management skills and the ability to properly execute tasks according to priority Adaptability and willingness to learn on-the-go Proficiency in Mac and Microsoft Office products Ability to take initiative, see the gaps, and act upon them without micromanagement Communicate status, needs, and be coachable (We always will take the time to teach if an applicant wants to learn) Be an honest and caring person who actually gives an eff about the well-being of our community and have the energy to keep fighting for equality and fairness The day-to-day tasks:
Communicating with clients and solving their questions and concerns Filing documents to the multiple courts Gathering client information Communicating client's needs clearly and effectively to attorneys Working on multiple cases, prioritizing according to relevance Providing information to prospective clients Managing and tracking billable hours for every case Drafting legal documents Providing legal assessments of client's information to attorneys Spanish-speaking and bilingual applicants will be highly regarded for this role.
